Privacy Statement

Your privacy is important to us.  This statement outlines the PWR Melbourne 2009  Limited and the Council for a Parliament of the World's Religions policy on how we manage the personal information we hold. These two organizations are jointly identified as PWR in the rest of this document.
 
PWR is bound by and committed to supporting the National Privacy Principles (NPPs) sent out in the Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act 2000.
 
What kind of personal information do we collect?
Like many sites, this site will collect and store information you provide in our online Registration Form for the purposes of enabling us to register your attendance at the Parliament, to assist with administrative and planning purposes and for future planning and development of PWR and other events, to facilitate your requirements in relation to the Parliament and to allow the compilation and analysis of statistics.
 
How do we use this information and to whom may we disclose it?
PWR uses personal information for the primary purpose for which it is collected, and for secondary purposes which are related to the primary purpose.
 
In general, PWR uses personal information for the following purposes:

  • to enable registration of your attendance at the Parliament;
  • to help us manage and enhance the content of the Parliament;
  • to communicate with you;
  • to provide ongoing information about our future Parliaments;
  • to comply with legal obligations.

The information that you provide in the Registration Form and information provided at any other time during the Parliament including without limitation any feedback obtained during the Parliament, will be used by PWR to offer, provide and continue to improve its Parliament and other services.

Australia introduced the Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act 2000 in 2001. arinex complies with such legislation which is designed to protect the right of the individual to privacy of their information. Information collected in respect of proposed participation in any aspect of the Parliament will only be used for the purposes of planning and conduct of the Parliament and may also be provided to the organising body or to organisers of future events. PWR may disclose the information that is collected in the Registration Form such as your name, organisation and its location and your email address.  PWR may disclose the information for marketing or networking purposes to other Parliament participants, sponsors or exhibitors or to Australian Government officials to assist in the fulfilment of their duties as enabled by law.  PWR may disclose the information unless you opt out by using the check boxes provided. PWR will not otherwise, without your consent, use or disclose personal information for any purpose unless it will be reasonably expected that such purpose is related to the offer, provision and improvement of the PWR or where such purpose is permitted or required by law. It is also standard practice to produce a ‘Participant List’ of attendees at the Parliament and to include the individual’s details in such.

PWR may disclose some information as listed to the following parties:

  • Porter Novelli – Speaker and Performer Details
  • Department of Immigration & Citizenship – Visa Processing purposes

We require that the organisations outside PWR who handle or obtain personal information as service providers to PWR acknowledge the confidentiality of this information, undertake to respect any individual's right to privacy and comply with the NPPs and this Policy.  We also require that these organisations use this information only for our purposes and otherwise follow our reasonable directions with respect to this information.

Security and Transborder data flow
We take reasonable steps to protect your personally identifiable information as you transmit your information from your computer to our Site and to protect such information from loss, misuse, and unauthorised access, use, modification, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.

However, you should keep in mind that the transmission of information over the Internet is not completely secure or error-free. In particular, e-mail sent to or from this Site may not be secure, and you should therefore take special care in deciding what information you send to us via e-mail.

The personal data you may submit will be jointly received by the PWR Melbourne 2009  Limited located in Melbourne, Australia, and the Council for a Parliament of the World's Religions located in Chicago, USA via our joint online database. It will not otherwise be transferred outside Australia unless we reasonably believe that the information will remain subject to principles for fair handling of the information which are substantially similar to the Australian National Privacy Principles and will not be collected, held, used or disclosed by the recipients of the information in a manner inconsistent with this policy.
