Since 1993, a Parliament of the World’s Religions has convened every five years in a major international city. This section provides more information on previous Parliament events. Monterrey, Mexico. The Encuentro Interreligioso Mundial was the first event of the “Spiritual and Peace” week, which was held as part of the 2007 Universal Forum of Cultures in Monterrey, Mexico.
Barcelona, Spain. The 2004 Parliament of the World’s Religions welcomed 9,000 participants from 74 countries to the site of Barcelona’s Universal Forum of Cultures.
Capetown, South Africa. The 1999 Parliament of the World’s Religions was a celebration of hope and a vision of possible futures. It also gave powerful testimony to the good hearts and good will of the many thousands of people – from every part of the world, and from almost every religious and spiritual tradition – who believed that this gathering could indeed be the harbinger of a new day dawning.

Chicago, U.S.A. The centenial celebration of the first Parliament in 1893 launched the modern expression of the Parliament of the World's Relgions in its birthplace in Chicago, IL, U.S.A.
