March PoWR Member Spotlight: Namrata Arora

As a writer, changemaker, social artist, conscious living coach, workshop facilitator, circle convenor, and systems thinking researcher, Namrata Arora holds the vision of awakening and galvanizing the feminine spirit for a planetary transformation of consciousness. She is the Founder of Life Beyond Motherhood and Zemyna Foundation and co-led the RISE (Religion, Interfaith and Spirituality for our Earth) sector for the Charter for Compassion.

What does being a Member of the Parliament of the World’s Religions mean to you?

“It is a privilege to be a part of an organisation that welcomes all and to be able to spread the message of universal love and peace.”

Why is interfaith work important to you?

“I was born into a Hindu family in Tanzania, raised by my parents who observed Hindi festivals but studied in a Christian Missionary school, studied Buddhist traditions and ancient Indian scriptures. Through my work and practice of yoga, I have realised the need to gather people and help them see each other as fellow humans which is why circle work, a wonderful way of bringing interfaith people together is so close to my heart. I feel blessed to be able to access this gift and to offer it to all. Riding on climate justice, my not-for-profit organisation aims to bring Spirituality, Ecology, and Feminism together, for which we need to help people see beyond our separations. This work is sacred to me and is perhaps the most potent way of dissolving the walls amongst us.”

How do you try to advance the Parliament’s mission: of interfaith cooperation and creating a more just, peaceful, and sustainable world?

“My not-for-profit organisation focuses on bringing together people of all religions to work towards achieving our planetary integrity. My personal social change efforts of setting up waste segregation systems, creating awareness about usage of plastics, organising collection of glass waste, and my NGO’s efforts on afforestation all bring people of various religions and ethnicities together to restore our planetary integrity.”

What would you consider to be a best practice, resource, or knowledge you would like to share?

The Weaving Lab and the FITO Network which are both working towards creating a better world.”

Is there anything else you’d like to share?

“Those of us who are endowed with personal challenges in life must consider ourselves blessed. We have been chosen to find our inner light and to share it with those who need it. The world needs our inner light to shine more than anything right now. I want to urge all those who face dire hardships to anchor themselves in gratitude and move forward with faith. This is the most important work in the world and our only hope. “
