Taking Away a Piece of the Parliament
The Age has written a short article on goods for sale at the Parliament of Religions exhibitors’ hall. The article discussed a kaleidoscope of religious traditions and organisations, ranging from the Dharma Realm Buddhist Association and the Ubiee Futuro-Plan to the Federal and State Governments of Australia.

Australian newspaper The Age has just released a beautiful 15-page liftout guide to the 2009 Parliament of the World’s Religions. The publication includes articles, statistics, program highlights, a spread on our major speakers, and more.

Dr Sakena Yacoobi to Speak at Opening Plenary Tonight
Australia’s newspaper The Age reports on Dr Sakena Yacoobi, one of tonight’s keynote
speakers at the Opening Plenary of the 2009 Parliament of the World’s Religions. As the article reports, Dr Yacoobi has been a tireless advocate of women’s rights and education ever since she secretly entered Afghanistan in 1995 and founded 80 schools despite the rule of the Taliban. Her Afghan Learning Institute has reached 6.8 million women to date.

The Age features Council Trustee, Dr. Kusumita Pedersen
Council Trustee Kusimita Pedersen addresses apostasy laws around the world. “The value of religious freedom is becoming more convincing,” says Pedersen in a wide-ranging discussion focusing on conversion in Islam, Hinduism, Christianity and other religions. The Parliament of Religions hopes to engage these issues through its many programs on conflict resolution.
