“In the Beginning” – A Tribute to the Lifetime Accomplishments of Dr. Lawrence Carter

The Parliament of the World’s Religions congratulates Dr. Lawrence Edward Carter, Sr., professor of religion at Morehouse College, founding dean of the Martin Luther King, Jr. International Chapel and Parliament Trustee, on the release of a Festschrift in his honor entitled, In the Beginning, via Mercer University Press. This collection of essays focuses on Dr. Carter’s accomplishments as a social justice, civil rights, and education activist, and holds as a valued contribution to the legacy and mission of Morehouse College.
The book includes a foreword by Hugh M. Gloster, Jr., son of former Morehouse College President, Hugh M. Gloster, and was edited by Echol Nix, Jr., alumnus of Morehouse College and former president of the North American Paul Tillich Society. Notable essayists include: Lewis Baldwin, Barbara Lewis King, Samuel K. Roberts, and many others. In the Beginning is available now in hardcover through the Mercer University Press website.
