Harmony and Justice: A Confucian-Buddhist-Daoist Trialogue

Room 710
Description:
Harmony is one of the most important concepts in Chinese thought. This session will explore the notion of “harmony” in the Chinese context as it relates to the more Western notion of “justice.” Leading religious voices from China, representing China’s three major religious traditions—Confucianism, Daoism, and Buddhism—will dialogue about their understanding of harmony and justice, and the relevance to social and environmental issues in China’s movement toward ecological civilization.
