Passing Through Divinity: Trans Women & Religion
Passing Through Divinity was a research project that focused on the discrimination religious trans women face and how religiosity can be a factor for resiliency. The focus was to discuss the transmisogyny, the hatred and wide-spread discrimination against trans women, and religious discrimination they experience as well as how religiosity helped trans women challenge oppression. The participants came from Santeria, Jewish, Christian, and Heathen communities. The aim the project was to build knowledge of the ways that religion can support trans women to resist oppression. The presentation will include the original research, and updates from the investigator.
