Teaching Sacred Worth Through Children's Books
The Teaching Sacred Worth Book Initiative recognizes the lack of diversity in children's books. While women, girls, and people of color are still extremely underrepresented in the publishing of children's picture books in the United States, what are our children learning about who is important? By connecting children to picture books featuring people of all creeds, colors, shapes, and sizes, we can help them learn the sacred worth of all people including themselves. This presentation will seek to familiarize the participants with the ideology behind the Book Initiative, the resources that have been created, and how to start this kind of initiative in their own country if outside the US.
