Ours is an age when religiously unaffiliated people continue to increase alongside the rise of religious extremism in the United States and around the world. What does religious liberty and soul freedom look like in this time? In 1636, Roger Williams advocated for the separation of church and state, proclaiming that “forced worship stinks in God’s nostrils.” As the current minister of the congregation that Williams founded, Jamie Washam explores the relevance of and challenges to soul liberty today.
